As I was saying in my last post, I love visiting Jacob March at his Nomad Beads in Boulder, Colorado. I love to buy beads from him whenever I can. He travels and finds the most unusual beads and artifacts and knows more about them than anyone else I know. He loves to share his knowledge. I can trust him completely, which is important when buying old beads. He is always busy either making an extraordinary necklace with Tibetan or Roman beads or helping his many loyal customers fix a project.

He let me take a video of a gorgeous Roman Faceted amber necklace that he is sending for the Talismans show next year.

Years ago, when his store was on Pearl Street, I taught him lazy stitch for an antique Arapaho vest he acquired. When I visited him at his house he brought it out, and both of us put it on, what a thrill!

I just want to point out in the photo below, I’m wearing one of my favorite necklaces made from antique Christmas beads I bought at a Pow Wow – a great place to find beads. And Jake is wearing one of his fabulous Tibetan turquoise, Coral and gold Necklaces. You can see how beads make us happy and make friendships through “good trades”.

One night before departing dear Boulder, we took this shot of Nomad Beads at night.

As I mentioned his first store was on pearl Street. I first met his mom who started the business years ago and had a shop in her home in our old neighborhood. It was such a pleasure to walk over there and have her help with a project, and to choose more beads. Yes, more beads….to be continued.
