Making Flower Essences Begins August 7

‘Tis the flower season to be jolly about engaging in friendship with flowers of many sorts, wild and cultivated. By caring for flowers and plants we can develop a sensitivity to communicating similar to our treasured friendships, a pleasant giving and receiving.  The nature spirit residing in flowers has much to share to with us to support growth on spiritual, emotional and mental levels, we need only to listen (in our Heart Chakra) and follow through. And there is much we can give back to the flowers – what is your gift to the earth?  I have enjoyed teaching Making Flower Essences since 1991, and will present this summers’ installment as a Sunwise Celebrations.

When you come you will have a choice of relating to hydrangea, gladiola, cosmos, Clary sage from the gardens, like in the photo above. Or some wild flowers in the fields like Iron weed or Queen Anne’s’ Lace, like in the photo below. It is a matter of being called by the flower, so you need not worry about having to choose. It is an intuitive process.

The class is on two days. The first one is informational. We’ll gather in the embracing shade of the morning glory porch to learn about the history of making flower essences, how they help, what you will need to acquire (ordinary and inexpensive things) before the second class and to practice simple methods to sharpen your listening skills that will be the gateway to communication with nature spirits. It’s so fun.

One of the best ways to get to know a flower or plant spirit is to tune into it’s essence and draw or paint what you perceive. No artistic experience is necessary, just your willingness to connect. So bring your colored pencils or paints. And take notes about what it is offering to you. Each person has their own special relationship to cultivate with the flower spirit.

The second class is scheduled for August 14, 8 am prompt! It is important to be ready by this time to set up your area and begin gathering the flowers so you have a minimum of 3 hours of sun. So if it becomes cloudy by lunch time, the process will be complete. We must be flexible about the date: if it is not sunny on the 14th, we will reschedule at your convenience.

During the processing time we can look through the literature I have on the subject. You may want to look up the various meanings from different sources. It is a large subject, and fascinating one. I’ll tell stories about the adventures of following the call of some flowers, a directive to make the 9 White Flower remedy, combined to support our contemporary needs for security, focus and fulfillment of our spiritual path, messages from Owl about the process and more. You might have questions.

I learned how to make Flower Essences from Carol Jenner in 1986, in a Sacred Pipe Ceremony. The flower we engaged with was Indian Paint Brush – of course, being a painter! I was amazed that I received this information: “I awaken vitality in creative expression. I accept all life experiences a opportunities for growth. I promote emotional maturity by working through frustration. ”  And this is what Carol received: “Your fire rays breathe into me a creative splash. The force of will anchoring me to the earth. You showy splendor pulling me up to my highest potential harmonizing the duality of my nature.”
