2016 Year Review
Even though we still have a few weeks of the year left, I have finished my review. It’s a grounding process that I enjoy, and hope you find inspiration in reading it. I’ve included a few photos of the pages below. The PDF takes a few seconds to download: 2016 Review Kathleen O’Brien
What a fruitful year! Beautifully captured and woven together-inspiring as always.
Laura, at first it didn’t seem like I had done much this year, but when I wrote the outline it started adding up. Then the theme became obvious and then it was easier to format the segments. It is such an interesting process, one that always makes me feel good. Thank you for reading and being inspired. I want to visit your place and write about your “art farm’!
What a busy year! Kathleen, you always keep your studio hopping. Thanks so much for visiting the Community Arts Center for the gallery talk. I enjoyed your explanation behind the work and used your behind-the-scenes insight when talking about your painting with field trip visitors.
Brandon, I am so pleased that you used some of what I shared with your field trip visitors! You keep a full roster of educational activities at the Center, I know how much you inspire young (and older) people to look closer at art. Thanks for asking me to talk, it’s good practice.
Thanks for this beautiful review and the glimpse into your life and artistic processes. I so enjoyed the Gallery Talk you did at the Arts Center this fall!
My pleasure, Kate. I love coming to talk at the CAC because the visitors are always so open. Danville is a real treasure of a town with so much culture to offer in our area.
A wonderful diary of your year in review. I suspect it was a helpful process in many ways. Thanks for sharing it, Kathleen.
Yes, Fox, it was helpful in many ways. First to see if I accomplished what I intended for the year. And to help me get clear about what I want for the next one. At this point I can feel a change coming but I’m not sure how it will look. The challenge is to be comfortable with not knowing!
Dear Kathleen,
Whenever you post something new, I already know I will soon witness a map of some kind of mysterious beauty and light.
The coloring reminds me of English watercolor painters.
Getting them here, at the middle eastern world is soothing and therapeutic moments for me…
Coming from a world traveler, this comment warms my heart, Nona. I’m so touched to soothe
An extraordinary account by an extraordinary artist ~ always setting such high standards for the creative life. I am thankful for your friendship, encouragement, and positive influence!
Thank you for this lovely compliment, John. The feeling is mutual, for sure.
Beautiful review, it’s great to see pictures of the land and your amazing art farm. The Wood Thrush is gorgeous, I love the colors.
Thank you, Basil, I like to publish pictures of the farm as a record of improvements! I hope the Wood Thrushes take up residency, they have a beautiful song, that’s what inspired the colors.
This is so beautiful Kathleen. Thank you for sharing . I feel uplifted and inspired by your paintings and words , it is sanctuary indeed xo
Maggie, it pleases me that my paintings and words provide sanctuary. Here’s to your beautiful year ahead in words and art.
What an amazing year you had, Kathleen! I love it all. Such a sweet visit with you on your art farm. You are an American Treasure for sure.
Your art is gorgeous and made such a great visual essay in this report.
Glad you did this!
Thank you for your compliments, Cynthia, and also for cheering me on to do this in your “Free Write Fling” class and for sharing the link on your blog. I love the idea of this being a visual essay. Whenever I write, it’s usually based on the images first. I am also glad I did this for the second time. It will become a tradition…
