Just In Time

In keeping with my original idea for Open Studios here at Sunwise Farm and Sanctuary, to share the four seasons literally and through indigenous teachings, the 5th version of the special edition card set was finished, just in time for Saturday’s event.

For the original event in 2009 Gwen Hefner helped me with the idea to have an open studio for each season, based on my  “4 Seasons Cards and Prints” business, and the classes I teach, 4 Seasons – 4 Directions. For each season event I could present a new card set. Autumn was the time of the first one, the tag line was “FALL, in love with art.” The first set were subtle drawings of the four animals associated with the four directions and seasons.

The seasons went retrograde in 2010, and it was “SUMMER, better than others”. One year I designed four flowers of the seasons, a premeditated idea when I composed details from “Garden of Healing, Garden of Hope”.

So it’s been a nice way to set up projects for myself that also invite conversation. That’s what I love, talking to everybody about making meaningful art.

Just In Time

There’s more. There’s always more coming from the studio, Thanks to the Great Spirit, my great husband, my ancestors, family and friends. I wanted to make some smaller affordable artworks for the Open Studio. Due to all the farm and garden chores I didn’t think it would materialize. For now, I’ll let you have a peek at just one.
