The Light of Equinox
The diminishing light of Equinox informs me to shift into a higher gear. The seemingly endless light and heat of the summer slows me down, it seems lie there is so much time. Everything is growing on it’s own, then the lessening light makes everything ripen to the point of instant harvest. It’s now or never time to can, dry or salsify.
It felt like I hardly did anything in the studio this summer until I put every piece on the art wall. The light of the equinox illuminated them in a dazzling way: Light = Darkness, Day = Night. I love the balance of this time of year.
“Atlas of the Year” series continues, it will require a room of four walls to display. I’ve just finished this month’s segment, “Six, Virgo, Atlas of the Year”. In it I included a drawing of my mother, as this was the month of her funeral.
Even though it will take more time to adjust to this loss, I’m looking forward to finishing the last three segments. I want to wait until they are all done, along with the drawings and writing, to see it all together. I’m sure I will have more insight about the lessons of this cycle, both collective and personal.
On this last day of full summer, I began a new series of small works to present at the ARTTOUR – in 44 short days!
