This is a different journal page, when we had storms and no internet, so I updated my brochure for an event. In the process I realized my promo relates to what I am learning so far here; I cut out the image of details of art and jewelry, (shown sideways) and noticed it was like a mini art board that reflects shapes, subjects and colors that make me feel alive. The statement (and visual display of it) has remained the same for years, the words are still completely me from the soul level, no need to edit. I was inspired by Joseph Cornell’s typing of the “Crystal Palace”. It was important for me to see that my intuition and soul are at work in my art and life. Starting from a feeling of deep sadness that I woke up with I allowed myself to track the feeling to show me the way forward, and finally with writing and doing the update, to a feeling of accomplishment.

These pages have a print of a panel I continued to work on into July.

As I began the first series I photographed each layer, this one is the first. They were also printed in grayscale to judge the contrast. On another page I made note of the pigments used; Naphtha red light, light magenta, yellow ocher, Hansa yellow opaque, quinachridone magenta, Jenkins green, light Phthalo blue and Phthalo turquoise.

I am determined to understand my yellows, and since I have 2 new ones I mixed them with 3 blues and permanent green. During this process I realize I want to paint my environment, house, flowers and birds in new ways. After mixing greens I chose the ones that looked like grass and trees. I had a lot of paint so I mixed the whole lot up and filled up the space.
