Variations on Landscape Narratives reveals the essences of the present moment communicated by the land around me through exploration of different blue and green palettes.
In this series of fifteen 6×9-inch works on Saunders Waterford and Fabriano paper, the format and intention offered simplicity and an overall soothing visual. It began with a desire to revisit the cloudscapes I was painting in oil in the mid-1980’s.
Summer Landscapes, evolved into Variations on Landscape Narratives with the emphasis on messages transcribed by invented script.
In Equinox Landscapes I divided the land and sky view in half to reflect the idea of day = night.
Autumn Landscapes came out looking more like spring, a prayer for much needed rain.
My intention is to continue with winter and spring landscapes. For now, these fifteen are on view for the first time at the 14th Annual Autumn Open Studio.
