Has anyone noticed, how things change more quickly? Like when you’re ready to go on a journey?

Over here, every item you need for an emergency art fix is packed. This includes a new artist book, half blank to fill in by grandsons, kids and friends. And for notes about the journey. Also, a large-holed bead project to do with two-year-old grandson. Paint brushes for the older grandson. Prismacolors and ink, fountain pens, for me. Other essentials of course, sharpener, eraser. Must all fit in a small bag – no heavy loads, please.

Dates change three times. At least we got a lot prepared, like take the snow tires off, get dog medicine, reserve the little motel on the Pony Express that has the salt water pool, health appointments, etc.  Some things had to get undone.

What I’ve learned is switching from working at art in the studio and all that entails to vacation mode is fun and motivating. Get stuff accomplished before the deadline, a fun one. Switching back from no go vacation to working is like turning the Titanic. It’s because I prefer to work at art, to be in that flow. OR simply go and be somewhere else, doing nothing. But not the liminal space in between.

Even still I have new art to show for the time, when the time comes, I’ll share it with you. Yes, there are a few new little surprises ahead. Because of the change in plan, I’ll continue to create, and hopefully journey in early August. On with summer.
